Scope of the Position

At Ventra Fowlerville, the (Injection) Molding Process Technician is responsible for setting up and maintaining 1000 to 4000 ton molding machines, molds, material and their processes. Ventra Fowlerville has 10 molding machines.

Responsibilities

1. Procedures and equipment to maintain or exceed 98% first time yield capability.
2. Develop systems that will improve the efficiency of the department.
3. Accurately program Injection Molding Machines and robots following production schedule.
4. Ensure the molding department is maintained and operated in a manner that will reduce downtime
and improve the life of the equipment.
5. Ensure that the Molding Associates are utilizing proper techniques and maintaining the assembly
equipment.
6. Participate in Corrective Action Plan development, implementation and follow-up as quality
problems occur.
7. Develop procedures that will improve the efficiency of the Molding Department.
8. Ensure quality parts are being produced and appropriate measures taken to correct problems.
9. Cultivate and expand positive employee morale.
10. Document all activities as required.
11. Provide support and maintain compliance with all company guidelines, union contracts, TS16949,
ISO14001, and all applicable government regulations and standards.
12. Any additional responsibilities deemed necessary by management.
13. Clean out vents and surfaces on mold to improve part quality

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent. Ability to read, write and speak English effectively.
  • At least 4 years experience in a manufacturing environment that offered the opportunity to gain a well-rounded background in injection molding.
  • Use of computers, preferably in a PC, Windows-based operating environment.
  • Knowledge with arithmetic, algebra, and geometry and their applications.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills; Able to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with all levels of personnel; Able to communicate/teach others regarding mold change troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of customer needs, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Must be able to perform tasks and deliver high quality parts that meet or exceed customer standards.
  • Knowledge of production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture, assembly and distribution of goods.
  • Be able to determine the kinds of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
  • Machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Skills to organize resources and establish priorities.
  • Identify problems, basic and complex, review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Ability to recognize the difference between short and long-term corrections.
  • Be able to manage one’s own time with minimal supervision.
  • Gain and maintain the knowledge to understand the appropriate use of equipment, facilities, and materials.
  • Must understand and demonstrate 5S standards according to department.
  • Lock Out/Tag Out – Understand and utilize procedures
  • Understand and follow plant safety rules and regulations; ability to navigate in, on, and around molding equipment in a safe manner.
