    Scope of the Position

    The Tool Room Supervisor coordinates and oversees the activities of the employees engaged in operating machines/equipment for general die maintenance and at the press machines. The Tool Room Supervisor assists Tool Manager to ensure that production rates, schedules, quality, quantity and safety requirements are met.



    • Develops or revises standard operational practices and observes associates to ensure compliance with standards
    • Examines machinery to determine cause of malfunction and reports needs for machine repairs
    • Sets up and operates machines to make test runs
    • Inspects work in progress and finished products
    • Conducts “on-the-job” training
    • Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignments
    • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations
    • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules
    • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product
    • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of department
    • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists in solving work problems
    • Initiates or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve goals
    • Performs and supervises disciplinary action for associates
    • Complies, stores and retrieves departmental records and maintains confidentiality
    • Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of the individual department
    • Verifies that operators have proper training, tools, equipment, W.I.P. product and proper protective equipment to do their job.
    • Exercises direct supervision over associates working in designated zone with respect to safety, production, quantity & quality.
    • Trains and supports Tooling Apprentice Program and team members development within the program
    • Assist the launch of new programs/projects, design reviews, supporting program management, tooling, engineers and integrators
    • Maintains & improves 5-S Standards & housekeeping in designated zone and throughout the plant.
    • Addresses safety issues immediately with Manager.
    • Has general awareness of safety requirements and regulations
    • Understands the requirement and use of Personal Protective Equipment
    • Responsible for proper collection, disposal and management of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes
    • Trained on work instructions and easily identifies location of work instructions in department
    • All other duties as assigned.



    • Associates Degree in Tooling, preferred
    • Minimum 10 years of direct metal stamping and large Class A die tooling experience in high volume facility
    • Previous experience as a supervisor, manager or tooling engineer in metal stamping environment
    • Troubleshooting ability
    • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
    • Strong organizational and communication skills
    • Proficiency with database applications and Microsoft Office
    • Strong analytical ability
    • Supervisory and interpersonal skills are required
    • Solid working knowledge of related equipment and processes.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects


    • Regular need to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
    • Use welders, grinders, drills, mill and lathes to adjust equipment
    • Use shims, Allen wrenches and other hand-held tools
    • Refill and rebuild nitrogen cylinders
    • Regular need to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk; hear; taste; and smell.
