Scope of the Position

Supports the facility production effort by using the MAPICS ERP system capabilities to evaluate inventory, generating supplier schedules and releases for components and raw materials necessary to satisfy the master production schedules using the MAPICS ERP system capabilities and EDI systems.

Responsibilities

Evaluates the demands for component parts and raw material against current inventory status and, using Material Requirements Planning (MRP), establishes supplier releases against blanket purchase orders to identify need for components or materials to the supplier;.

Evaluates stock counts against the master schedule to insure that all required inventory is on hand.

Communicates the need for facility-controlled logistics needs to the appropriate staff or contracted logistics group for both standardized and expedited transit.

Acts as primary contact between the facility and the supplier in all matters of scheduling and delivery, as well as day-to-day operating issues.

Maintains accurate release data in the facility’s Purchasing system that considers the lead time requirements of the supplier as well as customer/schedule demand.

Transmits release data to suppliers on a weekly basis at a minimum.

Monitors and communicates to management relevant supplier performance.

Works with plant and/or corporate personnel to determine the appropriate shipment amounts.

Monitors engineering level changes to ensure that inventory obsolescence is minimized.

Acts as an agent of corrective action for all related processes.

Executes release and supplier communications in accordance with the procedures and instructions called out in the applicable facility standards (ISO 14001, TS 16949, MMOG LE).

Participates actively in established or occasionally formed teams or meetings when the work conducted therein impacts the effective execution of the schedule or otherwise pertains to the commodities scheduled under their direction and control.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

2 or more years of related experience in a manufacturing environment, with responsibility for materials or planning and inventory functions;

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business correspondence and reports. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public. All such fluency should be demonstrated in the native language of the specific facility.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, ratios, percentages, and proportions to practical situations.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Ability to execute simple or complex Excel spreadsheets. Ability to create and format documents using MS Word. MAPICS ERP system experience is preferred.
