Scope of the Position:

Position will conduct analysis of Flex-N-Gate’s spending and sourcing opportunities. Responsible for standardization of the CMS purchasing flow at the plant level; establishing corporate commodity codes, vendor contract negotiation for commodities at corporate level to service individual plants, purchasing commodities as assigned.


  • Creates global database, coding purchased parts according to commodity grouping.
  • Negotiate contracts with approved vendors.
  • May develop vendor list for purchased commodity considering competitive pricing, ability to meet plant specific requirement, sufficient capacity to service multiple FNG locations.
  • Work with production, research, and engineering departments to determine correct commodity classification according to the corporate master commodity codes.
  • Creating and developing best system practices within Flex-N-Gate to strengthen internal Purchasing systems.
  • Using Business Intelligence (BI) tool to create templates to implement best practices and monitor compliance to Flex-N-Gate key metrics on an ongoing basis.
  • Create Vendor Master Database at plant level within CMS database.
  • Train plants in standardized purchasing process flow using CMS.


  • Four-year business degree or experience and knowledge equivalent

  • Minimum two years purchasing experience at the plant level with production and MRO materials, preferably in an automotive environment

  • Minimum 3 - 5 years of related work experience

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Working knowledge of AS400 database, Cognose, Excel and Blueworks

  • Strong communication, presentation, organizational and negotiation skills.

  • Ability to problem solve, reason and think critically.

  • Initiate and implement cost reduction ideas.

  • Interest in working in a fast paced environment with high performance expectations.

  • The ability to simultaneously manage and effectively prioritize issues and responsibilities.

  • Self-starter, ability to take the initiative and independently manage role within parameters of duties.

  • Must be capable of explaining new ideas and concepts so others can understand.

  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment that is constantly changing.

  • Strong work ethic and the ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.

  • Adaptability and flexibility.

  • Ability to overnight travel 5 – 10%.
