Scope of the Position:

Ventra Salem is part of the Flex-N-Gate group of companies and is looking for a numbers driven, self-motivated, team player for our Controller position in our Salem, Ohio plant. The Controller manages the activities of the accounting department and works closely with the Group Controller, General Manager and Plant Management Team on maintaining internal controls and assuring financial plans are consistent with organizational goals. The Controller must ensure timely and accurate preparation and dissemination of financial reports, internal or external.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform timely month-end closes
  • Monthly reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts
  • Coordinate with other facilities regarding reconciliation of any inter-company balance or debt
  • Provide management with timely financial statement projections in order to enable management to react to changes in the business environment
  • Respond to information from other departments regarding financial information
  • Cultivate culture that will identify area for cost savings
  • Coordinate and lead effective mid-year and year-end inventory counts
  • Maintenance and analysis of balance sheet and various profit and loss accounts to ensure internal controls are met.
  • Preparation and recording of journal entries at month end to ensure matching of all expenses to revenues.
  • Preparation of all month-end cost accounting journal entries.
  • Analyze and record all production variances-scrap, yield, purchase price variances.
  • Ensuring the accuracy of perpetual inventory records to physical through various reconciliation processes and timely physical inventory counts.
  • Preparation of various reports for input to month-end financial reporting package.
  • Analyzing all inventory “adjustments” made through the main operating system by production control and working with this group to solve any problems or errors.
  • Maintaining capital and fixed asset accounts.
  • Preparing account analysis of most general ledger accounts monthly, for internal as well as client assistance package for annual external audit.
  • Signing authority within guideline parameters set by corporate policies.
  • Develop strong internal controls
  • Close year-end in a timely manner and respond to all Corporate requests for information

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field
  • CPA, CMA, MBA a plus
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills
  • Demonstrated capability to motivate and lead a team
  • Solid interpersonal and leadership skills, coupled with technical competence
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices (GAAP)
  • Previous cost accounting experience required
  • Familiarity with Automotive industry a plus
  • Minimum five years at a senior accounting / controllership level, in manufacturing (automotive preferred) (CPA designation a plus)
  • Hands on – familiar with all aspects of finance function, A/P, A/R, Payroll, with greatest emphasis on Costing background.
  • Must be able to interact effectively with all levels of the organization – from the plant floor associates to Senior Management.
  • Experience with Integrated ERP system. (AS400 experience an asset).
  • Detailed oriented and punctual with deadlines.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work with flexibility
